Learn Craps: What are the pieces of the craps table?

If you have already traveled a casino, you’ve probably seen a craps table, but have you ever wondered what a craps table really is? What does it mean, what are its components?

The most obvious and largest table is the bed. Craps tables are generally available in 8-feet, 10 feet or 12 feet long. Along the top edge of the bed is a continuous rail padded on which players can build. Standing at a craps table for long periods of time can become boring for the reader, so that the padded rail allows players to rest or change positions of the body to relieve stress. After all, the casino does not want players to walk simply because their feet and knees hurt. Obviously, the casino wants players at the table as long as possible.

Adjacent to the bar is padded wood chip rack, which is usually two racks with dividers depth about every 12 to 16 inches. Dividers separating the chip tray into individual sections for the players.

The outer perimeter is a small shelf called a rail drinks. As its name suggests, this is where players place their drinks. Drinking glasses and bottles are not allowed on the padded rail because of the risk of a spill on the layout. Not only spills make a big mess on the layout (the casino has to pay to clean), spills delaying the game that draws in the casino’s profits. ashtrays cigarettes are also placed on the rail drinks.

Inside the bed is the layout table with all the numbers and boxes on which the chips are placed players. The felt can be any color as specified by the casino. Common colors are green, blue, and sometimes red. , Drawings and special models can be incorporated into the layout to match the theme of casino area on the outer edge of the layout is called the apron ..

Rubber material lines the inner wall of the bed and is called rubber Rail. Here the rubber rail at each end within the table is a part of 6 to 8 inches of rubber pyramid. This is the part of the table with all the little pyramids or spikes that are specially designed to deflect the dice at random. Casinos have a rule that a player must hit the back wall when rolling the dice. This rule ensures the dice hit the rubber pyramid, which prevents anyone to control the outcome of a dice roll. No matter what you hear, read or see a craps table live person (NO ONE!) Can always control the outcome of a roll of the dice hit craps when the rubber pyramid . They simply can not. (Please read my other articles on the silly notion of control dice, or dice.)

On the inside of the bed in front of the dealers and Boxman is a mirror of approximately 8 inches wide extending along the table. The mirror allows the dealers and boxman to see the palm side of the hand tossing the player. The boxman can easily see if a player cheats by palming the dice, trying to introduce a pair of through in the game

Cut the outline of the table in front of the boxman is a slot money box deposit. The location of the money is about 3/8-inch wide and about 3 inches long, which is just the right size to push down on the bills list. The boxman uses a paddle to push money into the slot in the money box that is attached to the bottom of the bed. (This is where the term boxman came from.)

The stickman controls a small bowl that rests on the table against the wall in front of the stickman. This Bowl Dice (Dice or boat) is simply extra dice that are not in the game When a new game begins, landfills stickman unused dice on the table and uses his stick (or whip) to push them (usually 6 or 8) for the next shooter shooter. then selects two think it’s lucky, then the stickman pulls the remaining dice back and put in a bowl. The bowl is usually made of clear acrylic or wood.

Also considered as part of a craps table are the washer and buttons. The ON / OFF button ring (white side for ON, OFF black side) merely serves to indicate if a new game is in progress. If a new game is about to begin, the washer is turned to the OFF side. If a game is in progress, the washer is turned on its side and placed in the ON box appropriate number on the layout to indicate the point to the current game. Pimples the size of a quarter is used to indicate if a player bets are off or on, or if a certain type of bet is a buy or secular. Each button has a word engraved on it, OFF, ON, BUY, or secular. Buttons help the dealer, boxman, and the eye-of-the-sky paris keep track of the players.

Now you know all the components of a craps table! The more you know, the more confident you will be when you walk in a table. More confident you are, the less dealers will guide you down the wrong path by prompting you to make paris with high house advantage.
